Yellow Jackets Rally; beat No. 21 Lake Erie

PAINESVILLE, Ohio – Andy Volk and Pedro Alvares scored 71 seconds apart in the second half as Cedarville defeated No. 21 and leader of G-MAC Lake Erie, 2-1.

The Yellow Jackets continue their rise in the league standings, improving to 8-2-1 overall and 5-2-1 G-MAC.

Host Storm took the lead in the eighth minute and held on to a 1-0 lead at intermission.

CU stole the momentum in the first six minutes of the second period.

Volk tied the game in the 50th minute with his third goal from

Alvares delivered the winning goal on a penalty kick in the 52nd minute, which was also his third this fall.

Jared Zacharias stopped four shots on goal to preserve the result of the road.

  • Alvares is 2 of 2 in PK in his career.
  • The Jackets won at Lake Erie for the second time in a row.
  • The shots were in favor of the visitors with 10-9 overall and 6-5 on goal.
