Second Michigan University that adds sports and needs a coach

Davenport University announced Wednesday that it is adding esports (competitive video games) to its athletic program next fall.

Davenport is the second university in Michigan to offer sports, joining Siena Heights.

Sports most often include video games related to real-time strategy, first person game, wrestling and arenas Multiplayer online combat. The popular games for sports are Fortnite, League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Call of Duty, Hearthstone and Overwatch.

The university is in the process of hiring a head coach and recruiting a team to play. the fall. Plans are being made to renovate the space for a game installation within its Student Center and offer scholarships to qualified team members.
