Ambassador Degnan attends the opening ceremony of the Ken Walker University Medical Rehabilitation Clinic, supported by USAID ( July 24)
Today, the United States Ambassador to Georgia, Kelly C. Degnan, joined the Georgian Prime Minister, Giorgi Gakharia, and the Minister for Internally Displaced Persons of the Occupied Territories, Health , work and social affairs, Ekaterine Tikaradze, to attend the opening of the Ken Walker Rehabilitation University Medical Clinic. The Clinic is a public-private partnership, facilitated by Emory University, USAID's implementing partner in its Physical Rehabilitation Program. The private company Foresight invested approximately $ 5 million in the construction of the facilities and the rehabilitation equipment for the clinic. USAID's Physical Rehabilitation Program provides training, capacity building, and ongoing supervision of rehabilitation specialists. The land for the new clinic was provided by Tbilisi State Medical University, and voucher-based individual funds are provided by the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons of the Occupied Territories, Health, Labor and Social Affairs for the rehabilitation of people with disabilities.
