WSOC falls 3-0 at UConn in league action

The Marquette University women's soccer team (7-5-0, 3-2-0 BIG EAST) saw their three-game winning streak come to an end with a 3-0 loss at UConn (6-5-0, 2-2 -0 BIG EAST) Thursday night in league action.

Thursday's final scoreboard marked the first time the Golden Eagles allowed multiple goals in a game since Sept. 5 in a 2-1 overtime loss at Utah State in a seven-game span.

Freshman Maggie Starker led the offensive attack with three shots on goal and Alyssa Bombacino added two of her own. Marquette had 12 shots as a team, including a pair that hit the crossbar, one in each half.

Marquette was left behind early, as UConn found the back of the net at 10 th minute. Netminder Mikki Easter who finished with seven saves, made an initial save on a shot from the left side, but the rebound found Jada Konte's foot on the top of the area and her blow slipped into the area nearby.

UConn added a pair of scores in the second half to advance 3-0 in the 72nd minute nd .
