UMHB women's basketball goes through McMurry University

BELTON, Texas – The women's basketball team at Mary Hardin-Baylor University took control in the second quarter and never looked back when the Cru scored a 94-59 victory over McMurry University Saturday in Belton, UMHB, which ranks seventh in the country, improves to 16-1 overall and 8-0 in the American Southwest Conference game with the win, the War Hawks fell to 5-12 in total and 2-6 in the ASC game with the defeat.

The Cru led 18-17 after the opening period, but started the second quarter with a 9-0 run to push the lead in double figures. He led 43-27 at halftime after firing 54 percent from the field in that second period. 22 points in the middle of the third and McMurry never got close to 14 points the rest of the way when the Cru Out scored the War Hawks 33-12 in the last quarter.

Hannah Holt led UMHB with 24 points and a maximum of 12 rebounds. Aubrie Elliott scored 13 points and Allaira Jones, Kendall Rollins and D'Ashiah Williams added 12. Williams scored her 12 points in the fourth quarter. The Cru fired 49 percent from the field as a team and bounced McMurry 53-29 in the win.

Sarah Doherty led the War Hawks with 17 points. Skyler Reyna added 12 points and seven team rebounds. McMurry fired only 35 percent as a team and only reached 5-25 in a three-point range.

Cru's women return to action with a 1 pm notice at Concordia Texas next Saturday in Austin. That contest will open a five-game road swing for the UMHB basketball.
