About Scholarships

DCU has established the Rising Talent Fellowship program to recruit high performance and globally competitive postdoctoral researchers who seek to develop their academic career. These prestigious appointments, in the category of Assistant Professor, are an important component of DCU's investment in research excellence and are designed to recruit and support our future research leaders. While successful candidates will have the opportunity to develop their academic career by developing their teaching skills, the main focus of the Rising Talent Program is excellence in research and advancing the University's research profile.

Report Relations

Selected candidates will be appointed Faculties under the direct supervision of a senior member of the academic staff.

Type of appointment

Appointments will be offered for a fixed term of three years, full time. There may be an opportunity to join academic staff in a long-term / permanent contract, conditional on performance and funding. Fellows will be encouraged to apply for funds for internal and external research.

Benefits

Positions provide:

  • A three-year labor contract with a salary ranging from € 46,807 and € 49,600 pa
  • After successful completion of the three-year term, fellows may have the opportunity to join the full-time academic staff of the University
  • Mentoring support and professional development
  • The opportunity to acquire teaching experience in DCU's undergraduate or graduate programs. The teaching activity will normally not be more than 50 hours per academic year
  • Access to a broad set of professional development opportunities that address the central areas of academic endeavor: research and scholarships, teaching and learning, and service and contribution to university and society

Eligibility and criteria for selection

  • Two to eight years of postdoctoral experience
  • Excellent research record
  • Publications in high quality journals and reviewed by internationally renowned experts
  • Experience in the communication of high profile research, both nationally and internationally
  • Evidence of potency l to develop as a future research leader

Application process

  • Completed application form together with a Curriculum Vitae (CV), which must demonstrate achievements in the following areas:
  • peer-reviewed publications (with information on citations and impact factors)
  • assured research funding
  • knowledge transfer and outreach activities
  • supervision of research students, if applicable
  • A proposal (of no more than 1000 words) that describes a research plan that will be carried out during the course of the scholarship, using the following subtitles :
  • Title of the proposal
  • Background and objectives
  • Meaning and novelty
  • Approach and methodology
  • Alin tion with one or more of the six key research topics described above (persons with outstanding research records in areas outside these six subjects will be considered)
  • Potential to attract funds for research
