"Our goal is to honor Alexa's life as a Highlander we love and as a Highlander we will always remember," said Caitlyn Scaggs, a spokeswoman for Radford University.
"We want to make sure we celebrate his life well."
Radford University posted on its Facebook page on Sunday night detailing the event.
Please join us to honor our Highlander classmate, Alexa Cannon, on January 30, 2019 starting at 9:15 p.m. at the Student Welfare and Recreation Center, MAC Court We gather to celebrate Alexa's life and the happiness she shared with others every day.
All students, faculty and staff of Radford University are invited to attend. In recognition of Alexa's love for fashion, attendees are encouraged to wear blue, a color she loved. Attendees are also encouraged to bring any photos they may have with Alexa to share their memories with the Cannon family and the entire Radford family.
This occurred after the tragedy hit the campus of Radford University on January 24 when officers found Cannon stabbed in his apartment.
According to the search warrants, Cannon's roommate, Luisa Cutting, admitted the crime. His date of appearance has not yet been established.
The vigil for Cannon will begin at 9:15 p.m. at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center on campus and a memorial walk will end at the fountain in front of Heth Hall.
Attendees are encouraged to wear blue, Alexa's favorite color.
The Second Presbyterian Church, in Roanoke, will also have a vigil at 11 am on Thursday
