ORONO – The University of Maine field hockey team prevailed with a win from behind on Friday afternoon, defeating the Great Danes of UAlbany for a 2-1 final behind two quarter-quarters Poppy Lambert goals.
Maine lost the lead on the day's first corner attempt to the Danes at the 3:21 mark, and the score held for another 50 minutes in the fourth quarter.
The Bears finally broke through with eight minutes remaining, as Poppy Lambert became the corner attempt by a Madisyn Hartley to stop the game tie at 1-1.

Just five minutes later, a copy was deployed to the coal when Maine won the corner again. and the connection of Brittany Smith to Madisyn Hartley to Poppy Lambert worked again to give Maine a 2-1 lead.

It fell apart as UAlbany won a corner short with just two seconds remaining, but Mia Borley made her third and most critical save of the afternoon to seal the 2-1 victory.

Maine extends its winning streak to five games and improves his conference record to 3-0 with victory. The Black Bears have won three straight contests with the Great Danes. Maine and California are the only undefeated schools left in the America East game.
The Black Bears withdraw from the conference game for their next appointment. They will head to Massachusetts to face Boston University on Sunday at 4:00 on ESPN +.
