Plans to convert Zambia's military training establishment -MILTEZ into a first military university in Kabwe have reached an advanced stage.

The MILTEZ Commander, Francis Kasempa announced that progress is being made in the development of affiliation courses in all aspects with the Technical, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority -TEVETA-

Brigadier General Kasempa said this during the annual dance of the MILTEZ officers at the Kohima barracks in Kabwe, in the Central Province.

He said that MILTEZ has the task of the enormous responsibility of training not only the Zambian Army, but also other wings of defense and allied personnel, hence the need to improve the scheme of the course.

Meanwhile, Brig. General Kasempa said that MILTEZ has ventured into several development projects such as poultry raising, gardening and aquaculture, among others, in an attempt to make the unit self-sufficient.

However, he said that despite all these additional responsibilities, military personnel will not deviate from their primary function of protecting the country.
