Josephine Grace Paterson, 95, taught at Johns Hopkins University

SHALLOTTE – Josephine Grace Paterson, 95, died Thursday, June 11, 2020.

Born September 1, 1924 in Freeport, New York, she was the daughter of the late Wallace W. Paterson and Genevieve McDonald Paterson.

He earned a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins University and taught at the college level for six years. She was a published author who had written the book "Humanist Nursing", she was an advocate for children and an avid golfer. She also earned a Doctorate in Nursing Science and also worked at the VA Medical Center Hospital in Northport, New Hampshire, and was a volunteer for the Cape Cape Fear Hospice.

He is survived by his lifemate, Loretta Zderad of Shallotte; and was preceded in death by her partner, Sue McCann.

Due to current health issues, services will be announced at a later date.
