HIGH POINT, N.C., June 4, 2021 High Point University welcomed eight new employees in the months of April and May. They are as follows:
Brandon Floyd joined the Office of Career and Professional Development as deputy director of career and professional development.
In his role, Floyd assists students with internship and job search strategies and guides them in leadership development and career exploration. It works to partner with companies that offer internships and job opportunities to HPU students. Floyd has a B.A. in sports management and an M.S. in Operations Management. Before joining HPU, he was a graduate assistant at the University of Arkansas and interned for the NCAA.
Makayla Utt joined the Office of Admissions as an admissions counselor.
Utt handles incoming calls and emails to the admissions office as a telephone admissions counselor. She increases the flow of information and helps her co-workers and prospective students with the admissions process. Utt graduated from HPU in May with a B.S. in psychology. Throughout her college career, she worked in the admissions call center.
Angel Morrison joined the Office of Admissions as an admissions counselor.
In his current role, Morrison builds relationships with prospective students and their families. She helps and supports them as they embark on their quest for college. She has a B.S. in sports management and an M.S. in sports management. She previously served in the Department of Student-Athlete Services at Jacksonville University and was an adjunct academic advisor to the Indiana University football team.
Nikki Short joined the Office of Admissions as an admissions counselor.
As an admissions counselor, Short helps prospective students complete their application and shares information about High Point University. He received both a B.A. in primary education and a master's degree in communication and business leadership from HPU.
Darby Pohle joined the Department of Careers and Professional Development as a career advisor.
Pohle works as a career advisor in the Office of Career and Professional Development and will assist business school students in career exploration, job search and internships, creation and refinement of resumes and letters of presentation, and professional development. Before joining HPU, she served as a graduate assistant in the Career Center and Registrar's Office at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Pohle has a B.S. Graduate in Graphic Communications and M.Ed. in higher education.
Jaime Weiser joined Student Affairs as Resident Director.
As Resident Principal, Weiser will facilitate a sense of community and safety for freshmen residing in the HPU women's complex. You will oversee student staff members and collaborate with other offices to provide residents with a comprehensive living and learning experience. Weiser has a bachelor's degree in marketing and an M.ED. in higher education student personnel. Weiser has experience as a peer counselor, resident assistant, instructor, and graduate community coordinator.
Janira Powell joined Facility Operations as a team leader for the university's mail center.
As the mail center team leader, Powell ensures that mail is scanned through the university system and distributed to students, faculty, and staff in a timely manner. You will also supervise a team of hardworking students. Before joining HPU, he worked in a variety of manufacturing organizations with knowledge of distribution, shipping, receiving and distribution. Powell has over five years of experience working with UPS, FedEx, DHL, USPS, and Amazon. She is certified in logistics management.
Eric Mason joined HPU as deputy director of admissions, communications, and graduate recruitment.
Mason is responsible for creating and managing communication, systems, and recruitment reports for the Graduate Admissions Office. Prior to joining HPU, Mason held a variety of positions at Bluefield College, including associate director of online enrollment, principal-appointed school official, and senior enrollment advisor for online and graduate programs. Mason earned his B.A. in history and a master's degree in education.
