Daystar University seeks to hire a new vice chancellor

Daystar University requests qualified people to apply for the position of vice chancellor that it has announced.

James Kombo, who was appointed to an acting capacity last year after his predecessor Timothy Wachira was suspended after student protests.

Wachira was fired in June.

Interested candidates must have a PhD from a recognized university with at least 10 years of research and teaching experience at the university level.

"He must have served administratively at the level of Assistant Deputy Chancellor or equivalent for at least five years and published articles in refereed journals," the school said on its website.

Being an authorized Christian university, the applicant must have evidence of faithful participation in a local church.

The new VC is expected to implement, plan and review the resources and academic programs of the University.

The applicant will also implement the university's strategic plan, promote good governance, and efficiently manage the assets and facilities of the school.

Daystar University currently has a student population of 4,999 with two branches. The main campus is located on the Athi River and The Nairobi campus is located along the Ngong Road.

It has six schools that include the School of Arts and Humanities, Business and Economics, Science, Engineering and Health, Human and Social Sciences, Communication and Law.
