CU Boulder was named last week No. 50 among the 18,000 universities around the world by the Center for World University Rankings, which publishes the only world ranking of universities that measures the quality of education and the training of students, as well as the prestige of faculty members and the quality of faculty research, without relying on surveys and presentations of university data.
Of particular interest, CU Boulder ranked as follows:
- National rank: 32
- Quality of education range: 134
- Ex employment range students: 170
- Classification of the quality of the faculty: 41
- Research results rank: 145
- Quality classification of publications: 11
- Range of influence: 40
- Citations Classification: 59
- Overall rating: 84.4
CWUR uses seven objective and robust indicators that include:
- Quality of education, measured by the number of alumni of a university who have won important international awards, prizes and medals in relation to the size of the university (15 percent)
- Employment of alumni, measured by the number of alumni of a university that has held CEO positions in the leading companies in the world in relation to the size of the university (15 percent)
- Quality of the faculty, measured by the number of academics who have won important international awards , awards and medals (15 percent)
- Result of the research, measured by the total number of research papers (15 percent)
- Quality publications, measured by the number of articles of research that appear in the main journals (15 percent)
- Influence, measured by the number of research articles that appear in highly influential journals (15 percent)
- Citations, measured by the number of research papers highly cited (10 percent)
The methodology has been improved this year, and now the research represents 70 percent of the total number, according to CWUR.
