GUNNISON, Colo. Western Colorado University football continued its rise in the rankings with the launch on Monday of the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and the NCAA Division II Regional Rankings, with AFCA in the list of Mountaineers at No. 14 and NCAA showing Western as No. 5 team in Super Region IV.

The Mountaineers rose four spots in the AFCA poll and one spot in the region following a 72-6 non-conference home win over the University of Lincoln, California on November 6.

At 9-1 overall and tied for first in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference standings at 7-1, Western has one more regular-season contest to try and improve its rankings. Colorado State University Pueblo visits the Mountaineer Bowl at 1 p.m. Saturday for an RMAC game.
