Chulalongkorn University Launches Global Innovative Teachers Program

An exclusive Global Innovator Faculty program has been launched at the newly established Chulalongkorn School of Integrated Innovation (ScII). Aiming to invite the best and brightest global minds to Thailand, the pioneering Global Innovator Faculty Towards Early-Career Development (GIFTED) program will offer prestigious appointments, the first of its kind in Thailand and the world.

Only four inaugural Global Innovator Faculty designations will be awarded in 2021, and a new call will be issued each year. These positions are for exceptional individuals whose work demonstrates significant potential to make a mark in an ever-changing world.

“The SCII-GIFTED program will be an ideal platform for people in the early stages of their careers, with impressive and innovative work that can contribute to the advancement of knowledge. The distinguished members of the Global Innovator Faculty will teach and guide brilliant international students and [home] help them emerge as a new generation / generation of global citizens of the future, "said Professor Worsak Kanok-Nukulchai, Executive Director of ScII.

These positions are intended for technology innovators, entrepreneurs, and digital pioneer transformers who possess the knowledge, skills, and ability to meet disruptive global challenges.

The program coincides with the University's second centenary from Chulalongkorn, the oldest and highest ranked higher education institution in Thailand. It also complements the University's new slogan of "Innovation for Society".

"Thailand seeks to position itself as an educational center, where knowledge , creativity and innovation can flourish for the betterment of society, "he said. or Associate Professor Dr. Natcha Thawesaengskulthai, Vice President of Strategic Planning, Innovation and Global Engagement, as the general outline of the program was revealed.

"We hope to attract global talent who can use Thailand and Chulalongkorn University as a network hub and foster international academic and research connectivity," added Dr. Natcha.

Thailand's success in tackling COVID-19, with one of the lowest death rates in the world, coupled with owning a robust public health system, maintaining its reputation as a global hub, are attributes that should attract the best international talent to Thailand.

The SCII-GIFTED program should provide a golden opportunity for applicants to work at the forefront of advancements and innovations.

Global Innovator teaching positions will be open to recent promising doctoral graduates with demonstrably impactful hands-on work with an international perspective. Designated individuals should be able to span academia and industry while helping to create a better world.

Candidates may be graduates in engineering, administration, medicine, or social science, but the primary criteria is a transdisciplinary approach that enables work across disciplines and regional boundaries.

The ideal candidate is a Ph.D. graduate with demonstrated potential in academia and industry with a focus on innovation. This individual should have worked in an international environment, possess a global mindset, and be passionate about teaching and mentoring young talents.

The School of Integrated Innovation (ScII) is the newest faculty at Chulalongkorn University and currently offers a four-year undergraduate program that integrates arts, science, technology and business with the goal of innovating. To graduate, students are expected to have completed a real-world startup project focused on one of four streams: digital economy, robotics, and artificial intelligence; Inclusive community and smart city; Sustainable development; and health and well-being.
